PRICES
- Hourly rate: £35.00 a lesson with a FREE induction lesson for every new student
- Duration: 1 or 2 hourly slots available
- Conducted: Weekly, fortnightly, 3 weekly, monthly or on an ‘as and when’ basis
- Times: Lesson slots are from 9.00am to 9.00pm, with additional overflow slots on request.
TUITION
Rory is a specialist bass guitar tutor in education, and teaches from his home teaching studio in Plymouth, Devon. From beginners to advanced and all in between, Rory offers expert one-to-one professional bass guitar tuition that’s designed to be interesting whilst challenging, but most importantly fun!
Rory’s goal with every student is to fully explain all elements of the electric bass in a friendly, comfortable and relaxed teaching environment. Rory’s home studio provides the very best in amplification and accessories – ‘tools for the job’, so that your experience is one to remember time and time again.
In addition, Rory offers invaluable support and advice in the following specialist areas:
- Unlimited support with your bass gear and equipment
- Preparing you for jamming and sourcing fellow musicians to jam with
- Repertoire – Learning your ultimate setlist for jamming and live usage
- Preparing you for auditioning, playing in a band and live performance
- Technical support and maintenance to your gear and equipment.
So whether you just want to be able to play a few songs at home or get out there and start playing in a band. Or if you would love to work towards a degree or diploma to qualify for a music academy, be a session player or even teach the electric bass, then Rory can give you the skills required to attain your personal goals

Rory’s aim is that you become an outstanding bassist and musician with your own unique voice and in turn develop your own sound. If you have a willingness to learn and a want to get better then Rory would love to hear from you.
YOUR FIRST LESSON
Your first lesson with Rory is really designed as an induction into bass. It will give you the opportunity to talk about what you would like from your tuition; personal goals you may have set for yourself and of course gives you and Rory the opportunity to get to know each other right from the outset.
This FREE induction lesson will also give Rory the chance to assess your level of playing and in turn start thinking about a teaching syllabus that will be structured just for you.
Items to bring on your first FREE induction lesson:
- Your bass guitar
- An A4 ring binder or folder with A4 clear PVC plastic wallets for storing your lesson material
- Any current material i.e song score/tabs/books or previous tutors lesson material/notes that you have been working through
- A list of your favourite bands/music, bassists and general influences. If you wish, you may additionally bring along a selection of your favourite music in compact disc or MP3 format.
GRADED EXAMS
Rory regularly carries out throughout the year graded exams using the Rockschool Bass Graded Syllabus
